Rock Church Beliefs

Take a moment to read through the Rock Church beliefs and answer the question at the bottom of this page.

God's Word
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Because God is infallible, we believe His Word is accurate and true from beginning to end. God reveals Himself to us, increases our faith, and directs our lives through His dynamic and living Word.

The Trinity
The Bible teaches that there is only one God who exists in three separate persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This doctrine is called the Trinity, and we believe that we can know each person of the Trinity in a personal way. We believe that God the Father is the source of all creation. He sent His Son Jesus to earth to be our Savior. Throughout the gospels, Jesus glorifies the Father, communes with the Father through prayer, acts according to the Father's will, and claims unity with the Father.

Jesus
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God as He claimed to be. He was both fully God and fully human. He was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, gave direction to His followers, and willingly laid down His life on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He died and was buried. On the third day, He was raised to life and appeared to over 500 people during a period of 40 days before ascending to Heaven. We believe He will come again to earth in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is sent by Jesus to dwell in the hearts of all believers to teach us, guide us, and empower us to use the gifts and talents we have been given. With the Holy Spirit's help, we are able to know the true God, spread His love to others, and carry out His purposes for our lives.

Man, Sin & Salvation
We believe that God created the human race to have fellowship with Him, but that our sin separates us from Him, who is holy and righteous. God loves us so much that He provided the way to restore our relationship with Him. As was prophesied throughout the Old Testament of the Bible, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to redeem us by dying for our sins. Jesus declared that no one comes to the Father except through Him. We believe that repentance from sin and belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to be saved from eternal judgment for our sin.

Baptism & Communion
The Rock Church also believes in the practice of water baptism and the regular sharing of communion as demonstrations of our faith in Christ.

Spiritual Data

The information contained in this application is correct to the best of my knowledge. I authorize any references listed in this application to give you any information that they may have regarding my character and fitness for opening my home for a Rock Small Group. In consideration of the receipt and evaluation of this application by the Rock Church, I hereby release any individual, church, charity, employer, reference, or any other person or organization, including record custodians, both collectively and individually, from any and all liability for damages of whatever kind or nature that may at any time result to me, my heirs, or family, because of compliance or any attempts to comply, with this authorization. I waive any right that I may have to inspect any information provided about me by any person or organization identified by me in this application. If I have roommates, I acknowledge that they are of the same gender, and have agreed to open our home for a Rock Small Group. Further, any family members living in the same household agree to open our home for a Small Group. If there are any unusual circumstances to my living situation, I agree to notify the Small Group staff immediately and discuss any changes that need to be made for the health of the Small Group. Should any issues arise that would affect my quality as a Small Group Host or Leader, I agree to disclose that information to the Small Group Staff immediately and discuss any changes that need to be made for the health of the Small Group.
